"The layout of freight routes is gradually improving. According to incomplete statistics from the Air Logistics Branch of IoT, as of October this year, more than 180 new freight routes have been added."
On November 24, Cui Zhongfu, vice president and secretary-general of China Federation of Logistics and Procurement, disclosed the above data at the seminar on the construction of digital driven aviation logistics hub at the Second Global Digital Trade Expo.
Cui Zhongfu stated that this year is the first year after China's epidemic prevention and control opening-up, and the country's economy is in a critical period of economic recovery and industrial transformation and upgrading. From an international perspective, in October 2023, the Global Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) was 47.8%, running below 50% for 13 consecutive months. The World Trade Organization (WTO) recently lowered its growth forecast for global goods trade in 2023 to 0.8%. From a domestic perspective, China's economic operation has continued to recover, but it is still moving forward in twists and turns. In October, the Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) of China's manufacturing industry was 49.5%, a decrease of 0.7 percentage points from September, entering the theoretical contraction range.
"Based on the data from the first three quarters, it can be seen that the foundation for sustained economic recovery still needs to be further consolidated. However, some industries related to people's livelihoods have maintained a stable and positive trend, and the logistics industry has strong market vitality, with major indicators showing a steady recovery trend." Cui Zhongfu said that in the first three quarters, the total amount of social logistics in China was 24.9 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.8% based on comparable prices. The total revenue of the logistics industry was 9.7 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.5%.
Cui Zhongfu believes that with the implementation of a series of policies such as expanding domestic demand strategy and macroeconomic regulation, logistics demand will continue and gradually recover, demonstrating good resilience. The long-term positive fundamentals have not yet changed. Specifically reflected in the following five aspects:
Firstly, the market demand is stable. The emerging industries represented by cross-border e-commerce provide development momentum and stable market expectations for the development of aviation logistics. The proportion of cross-border e-commerce in China's total foreign trade has increased from 1% in 2015 to 5% last year, making it one of the important sub markets for aviation logistics. According to data from the International Air Transport Association, 80% of cross-border e-commerce products are transported by air, and cross-border e-commerce accounts for 20% of the total revenue of air cargo business.
Secondly, the supply of air cargo has increased. The construction of aviation logistics capabilities is accelerating, and the number of all cargo planes is steadily increasing. According to data from the Ministry of Transport, as of the end of August this year, the industry has 252 all cargo planes, an increase of 79 from the end of 2019. The layout of freight routes is gradually improving. According to incomplete statistics from the Air Logistics Branch of IoT, as of the end of October this year, there were approximately 180 new cargo routes added.
Thirdly, the air cargo network is constantly improving. To build international air logistics channels, the combined GDP of logistics hubs in 13 airport type countries in China accounts for 62.25% of the country's GDP. Air logistics hubs have played an important role in leading and supporting high-quality regional economic development.
Fourthly, relying on the comprehensive advantages of aviation logistics, aviation logistics enterprises provide high-quality logistics services for cross-border e-commerce
